I’m embarking on the literary journey of a lifetime.
I want to share my secret passion, hidden treasure, and love for poetry, reading and writing.
I have treasured books since I was a child. My father introduced me to “quiet reading time” I will always recall those beautiful silent moments when the crisp sound of the pages turning and the chirping of birds on the windowsill was all that mattered and knowing that my dad was there, guiding me, lovingly, strong, happy and gave me the key to discovering the power of my imagination combined with words. I entered a subjective experiential world where I would forever return in times of pain to hide from the world.
Now, finally, I have committed to bringing forth this dormant passion within, which I have toyed around for many years, writing essays, composition and entering competitions as a child in primary school—then navigating high school and using writing as an avenue to express my fears, my doubts, my pain.
As a university student, I compiled a manuscript of poems of unattainable love, pain and feelings that consume one’s soul. This deep emotional experience made me research the meaning of love, and I won an award in a competition About “Science, love, and its meaning”.Through many years, I have harboured in my heart many books and stories to navigate life.
A few years ago, as I was reading a book from Wayne Dyer, who has inspired much of my journey, I read a quote that resonated with me, as echoes from a mountain, and since then, I knew I had to take action to awaken the author that lives inside and reveal the plan.
“Don’t die with your music still inside you. Listen to your intuitive inner voice and find what passion stirs your soul” -Wayne Dyer
I am making this statement of commitment to be accountable, to share the journey with anyone who , to challenge myself to something new, to become awake, to share my gift, to embrace my change process, and to honour my dad, who opened the door to the magic of books for me and in the words of Wayne to share my inner music with the world. Of course, I’m not making this journey alone; I have a book coach and a writer’s group to ensure I reach the final line. As they say, they can provide you with the tools, but the drive must be entirely yours.
